So you’re looking for a new coffee maker…

You’ve come to the right place (I hope)!

My name is Benji and I put TopRatedCoffeeMakers.com together so you, dearest coffee-lover, can find the perfect brewer for your home, office, campsite, or whatever.

How I review coffee makers

Since this site is all about the best rated coffee makers, that’s all I review here.

You may notice that the coffee makers I review here are either a) highly rated across the web by other coffee drinkers b) highly rated based off of my personal experiences, or c) a combination of both a and b.

The idea is to save you time from looking at coffee makers that will most likely end up disappointing you.

Currently, I rate these coffee makers on a 5 point scale across 9 different rating categories. They are: price, coffee maker quality, coffee quality, brew speed, durability, cleaning ease, ease of use, versatility, and appearance.

I try to review as many coffee makers as I can from personal experience, but currently it isn’t possible to do this for all of them. So if I haven’t personally used the coffee maker I’ve reviewed, you will see a summary of all the reviews from around the web provided by others.

What to look for in a coffee maker

Coffee makers come in all kinds of different shapes and sizes, with all kinds of different bells and whistles. In the end though, there are really only a few things that matter when it comes to picking the right coffee maker (in my opinion).

1. The Coffee’s Taste

I realize many people drink coffee for caffeine, and caffeine only. However, if this is the only reason you’re drinking coffee you might as well take caffeine pills.

Great-tasting coffee is paramount when it comes to the coffee maker you ultimately choose. So to me, a coffee maker that brews great-tasting coffee is the first thing you need to look for when browsing top rated coffee maker reviews.

2. The Coffee Maker’s Ease of Use

There are two different kinds of coffee drinkers today (in the USA at least):

1) Those who need it quickly and easily

and

2) Those who enjoy the ritual and challenge of making great coffee

Even if you’re the second type of person though, you are probably more likely to use a coffee maker that is easy to use than one that is difficult to use. That’s why I think a coffee maker that is easy to use deserves careful consideration.

3. The Coffee Maker’s Durability

Nobody wants to invest in something that merely breaks after the first few uses. You need something that is built-to-last. Trust me, it will save you time and money in the long run.

Would you rather own five coffee makers over the course of 5 years or one coffee maker over the same period? I don’t think I need to answer this one…

Other Important Things to Consider

  • Versatility – is the coffee maker capable of more customized brews and/or feature-rich?
  • Coffee Maker Quality – is the coffee maker made from high-quality materials that are safe?
  • Cleaning Ease – is the coffee maker easy to clean?
  • Warranty – is the coffee maker backed by a warranty for manufacturer malfunctions?
  • Carafe – Does it dribble or leak? Does it keep the coffee hot?
  • Brew Speed – How fast does the coffee brew? Remember: fast is not necessarily better
  • SCAA Certified – Very few coffee makers meet this criteria, but it’s a very nice bonus
